Owe Sporrong and Marcel van der Meyden open the first Newport shop in Sveavägen in Stockholm.

“The Newport Style” has become a catchphrase in the interior design world, and the NK store in Stockholm is expanded to twice its original size.
Newport opens a store in Norrköping, expanding its product range and placing a greater emphasis on the sale of exclusive interior design items.
To meet the high demand for exclusive and top-quality furniture, Newport starts manufacturing its own furniture.
A new store opens in the Bromma Blocks shopping centre. Due to the galleria’s unique layout, in which foot traffic is channelled through the shops, the Newport store is an immediate success.
Newport opens a store in Linköping, where interior design items and furniture are brought together to create inspiring home environments.
Newport has a booth at one of the world’s largest trade fairs for home furnishings, held in Paris. With this step, the company starts marketing itself to international retailers.
Newport opens a shop in central Västerås with a focus on its range of interior design details and selected pieces of furniture.
Newport launches its webshop, with a product range of over 3000 items. By the end of the year, the webshop has become Newport’s most successful sales channel.
Just in time for Christmas, Newport opens a shop in one of the world’s top-ranked ski resorts – Åre.
Newport opens its first Premium Outlet in Västerås. The 400 m2 store is packed with fine interior design items, fine furniture, and sample sales.
