Cast pewter stirrup cup with a top in the shape of a moose's head. A stirrup cup is a cup from which wine or sherry is served to the riders during fox hunts. The name stirrup cup comes from the fact that the riders were often offered the drink while sitting on horseback before leaving or returning from a hunt; while their feet remained in the stirrups. A tradition that dates back to the 18th–19th centuries.

If you're a fan of the British TV series Downton Abbey, you've probably seen the dressed-up butlers offering stirrup cups to the riders and their dogs as they gather for the hunt.
